Dave Fetty Originals!

A skilled glassworker, Dave Fetty retired in 1999 after more than 40 years in the glass industry. Dave came to Fenton Art Glass  in 1965 after learning the trade in Milton, WV, at the Blenko Glass Company, where he began as a carrying-in boy when he was 19. Dave's mentor at Blenko was glassworker "Shorty" Finley, who taught Dave many of the skills needed to make glass off-hand (without moulds).

In the mid-1970s, Dave worked with glass artisan Robert Barber, helping to design and create some of Fenton's first limited edition pieces.

Even after his "official" retirement, Dave has continued to contribute to Fenton. During 2000, he worked closely with the glassworkers who produced a "Hanging Hearts" vase for the Connoisseur Collection. His contribution to the Collection in 2002 was his Favrene Feathers Vase.

Dave continues to work at Fenton Glass, producing some really special limited pieces.

"Caribbean Day" Vase
by Dave Fetty

Glass artisan Dave Fetty developed a special process to create this spectacular vase, capturing the essence of the sea and sky of the Caribbean.
Multiple layers of crystal and powdered glass in white, blue, and green are carefully combined by Dave to produce this dramatic result when the piece is blown in a paste mould to eliminate seams.
No two will be exactly alike!

"Ada's Feathered Purse"
by Dave Fetty
Master Craftsman Dave Fetty's love for his wife Ada inspired the creation of this delicate tribute - a graceful, feminine purse to cherish forever.
The process begins with a core of Milk Glass covered with Celeste Blue glass.
Black glass threads are then worked into the surface & carefully pulled to form the feathered appearance.
Black glass edging is applied & worked by hand before a smooth handle of Celeste Blue glass is added to complete this extraordinary work of art.
Size:  6.5 inches high

Bottom has the Dave Fetty stamp with his signature, and the handles also have the Fetty stamp.
Hand numbered on the bottom, along with Tom Fenton's hand signed signature.

"Whimsical Elephant"
by Dave Fetty
Tom Fenton Signature

Size:  5.5 inches high
Tom Fenton has worked closely with Dave Fetty & his team of skilled glassworkers for many years.  To showcase the talents of Dave and some of our artisans, Tom has selected a whimsical off hand elephant.
This handsome animal is formed from a gather of Milk Glass rolled in Cobalt Blue frit before being covered with a layer of Crystal glass.
Black glass threads are then applied & pulled to create a feathered effect.   A black glass trunk & head are hand-shaped with special tools.
The finishing touch is the application of two lime green eyes & a slight pinch to replicate the elephant's tiny tail.
